How I Uniquely Displayed Data
Once I organized all of my data I created sound waves to tell the story of each venue. Each sound wave displays the color/colors of the most popular genres at the music venue. The larger the sound wave, the bigger the music venue. The key matches the names of each venue to their number on the map. Genre colors are also found in the key.
The Impact
I chose to display the data in this way, to visualize the spread and intersecting of music within Detroit. Larger mainstream artists compete downtown while smaller more experimental artists are often found in the neighborhoods. The sound waves overlap and flow together. Much like the diverse cultures and people of the city they are home to.
